Hello and welcome to Fitness for Life! I’m Haleigh, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself!
I have been an athlete my whole life. I played soccer for 20 years until I was sidelined with a knee injury going into college soccer, and then turned my passion for the game over to coaching. I coached high school girls soccer with my dad for 5 years, until I decided to go back to school for cosmetology at night while working during the day.
I’ve also struggled with my weight for my whole life. When I started going to school, the long hours away from home took a toll. I was eating out a lot, not working out at all, and stressed. My weight jumped dramatically, I felt sluggish and unhappy, and had to work hard to learn to love myself regardless of how I felt I looked on the outside. Doing my first boudoir shoot during this time really helped me see myself, and my body, in a new, positive light!
BECOMING THE BEST VERSION OF MYSELF
Fast forward two years later, finally out of school, about to start my own business, and wham! Divorced after 13 years together. I lost a lot of weight from stress, and not in a healthy way. Some people stress eat, but I am definitely the opposite.
I got to take a good look at all the things that I used to love doing, including working out, that had been pushed aside for so long. I got to start rebuilding myself, and really coming into the person who I was meant to be. I had no obligation or responsibilities to anyone else to pick myself back up, so I knew I had to do it for myself. I started singing in a band, doing more photo shoots, I went skydiving, got a few new tattoos, and dove into my business as a hairstylist.
I started off just working out in my small apartment gym, which was enough to get my confidence back. I don’t know about you, but the gym can be intimidating starting off or getting back into it, but luckily I found a great, supportive guy who was also a bit of a workout fanatic, and I eventually got back to the gym with him. Oh, how I had missed leg presses! Now I’m focused not on my weight, but my strength. I want to create the healthiest, strongest version of myself so that I can continue to experience life to the fullest.
So, that’s the very abbreviated version of my current fitness story. There are definitely more stories to tell, but I’ll save them for another day. My goal here is to help others looking for inspiration, ideas and help in their journey, and introduce you to new information and some products here and there that will help you achieve your goals as well.
